Difference between Nationalism and Patriotism

 Nationalism

          Nationalism is the concept of loyalty towards a nation. In Nationalism, this sentiment of loyalty must be present in every citizen. This ideology certainly has been present in humanity since time immemorial. Above all, it's a concept that unites the people of a nation.

Example

Leadership of Mahatma Gandhi

Mahatma Gandhi led the Dandi March, Satyagraha, Civil Disobedience Movement, Non-cooperation Movement, and Quit India Movement against the British. All these led to the rise of nationalism among the Indians.

Patriotism

patriotism is service before self.It basically means love towards your Nation and serving your nation before you serve yourself.

Example

Shaheed Bhagat Singh is another name that is synonymous with patriotism. He was determined to free India from the clutches of the British rule. He was a part of several freedom struggles. Similarly, he also started a revolution for the same.
